Rain/thundershowers are likely at isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh,West Bengal,Sikkim,Orissa,Jharkhand. Mainly dry in Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura and Bihar.

Forecast valid until the morning of January 8. Rain/thundershowers at:

East: Isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh,West Bengal,Sikkim,Orissa,Jharkhand. Mainly dry in Assam,Meghalaya,Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura and Bihar.

North: Isolated places in Jammu and Kashmir. Mainly dry in Uttar Pradesh,Uttarakhand,Haryana,Punjab,Himachal Pradesh,Punjab and Rajasthan.

Central: Isolated places in east Madhya Pradesh,Vidarbha,Chhattisgarh. Mainly dry in west Madhya Pradesh.

Peninsula: A few places in south coastal Tamil Nadu; isolated places in north coastal Tamil Nadu and mainly dry in Gujarat state,Konkan,Goa,Madhya Maharashtra,Marathwada,Andhra Pradesh,interior Tamil Nadu,Karnataka and Kerala.

Islands: Isolated places in Nicobar and mainly dry in Andaman and Lakshadweep.

Temperatures recorded in four metropolitan centres were:

The trough of low at sea level over southwest and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal now lies over southwest Bay of Bengal. The cyclonic circulation between 1.5 and 3.1 kms a.s.l. over Lakshadweep area and neighbourhood persists.

A cyclonic circulation extending upto 0.9 km a.s.l. lies over east Madhya Pradesh and neighbourhood. The western disturbance as an upper air system over eastern parts of Jammu and Kashmir has moved away northeastwards.

The cyclonic circulation over Punjab and neighbourhood now lies over Himachal Pradesh and adjoining Haryana and extends upto 3.1 kms a.s.l. System is likely to move eastnortheastwards.

Cold wave conditions prevailed in some parts of east Uttar Pradesh. Cold day conditions prevailed in north Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

Night temperatures were appreciably to markedly below normal in some parts of Jharkhand and of east Uttar Pradesh and were below normal in some parts of Uttarkhand,Haryana,west Rajasthan,Gujarat region,Tamil Nadu,coastal and south interior Karnataka and of south Kerala.

They were appreciably to markedly above normal in some parts of Assam,Meghalaya,Gangetic West Bengal,Orissa,Bihar,east Madhya Pradesh,Saurashtra,Kutch,Marathwada,Vidarbha,Chhattisgarh and of Telangana and were above normal in some parts of east Rajasthan and in remaining parts of Orissa,east Madhya Pradesh and of Saurashtra and Kutch.

They were normal over the rest of the country.

Realised rainfall and chief amounts in cms during past 24 hours at; East: Isolated places in Arunachal Pradesh,Assam,Meghalaya,Sub-Himalayan West Bengal,Sikkim,Jharkhand and mainly dry in Nagaland,Manipur,Mizoram,Tripura,Gangetic West Bengal,Orissa and Bihar. Dibrugarh,Jamshedpur 0.3 each,Passighat,north Lakhimpur and Gangtok 0.1 each.

North: Isolated places in Himachal Pradesh and mainly dry in Uttar Pradesh,Uttarakhand,Haryana,Punjab,Jammu and Kashmir and Rajasthan. Shimla 0.2.

Central: Isolated places in east Madhya Pradesh,Chhattisgarh and mainly dry in west Madhya Pradesh and Vidarbha. Mandla 0.7,Ambikpur 0.4 and Pendra 0.2.

Peninsula: Mainly dry.

Islands: Isolated places in Andaman and Nicobar and Lakshadweep. Nancowry 0.5 and Agathi 0.1.
