Hospital damaged over turf war between Cong,PDP leaders

A Congress leader was reportedly angry that authorities had closed hospital gate at behest of PDP MLA.

The turf war between leaders of ruling Congress and Opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is costing the residents of Kreeri in Baramulla district of Jammu and Kashmir dearly.

J-K Youth Congress President and former MLA from Sangrama Shoaib Lone and his supporters allegedly broke open the gate of Sub-district Hospital Kreeri yesterday,official sources said.

They said the outer wall of the building was damaged in the process. The Congress leader was reportedly angry that hospital authorities had closed the gate at the behest of PDP MLA Basharat Bukhari.

Superintendent of Police Baramulla Haseeb Mughal confirmed the incident had taken place but a case has not been registered yet.

“We are expecting a written complaint from the Chief Medical officer on Monday after which cognisance will be taken,” Mughal said.

This is the third incident of high handedness of a politician belonging to the ruling coalition in the state this year.

Earlier,a district president of Congress and a senior leader of National Conference from Ganderbal were arrested for assaulting a lawyer and a woman respectively.
