On Wednesday, both National Conference and Congress had entered into a seat-sharing agreement wherein former had agreed to leave both the Jammu seats for Congress in lieu of latter’s support for its president and Dr Farooq Abdullah in Srinagar constituency.
Bukhari, who served as finance minister in the state before the PDP-BJP coalition government fell in June 2018, represents the Amira Kadal constituency in Srinagar and has also served as education minister in the Mufti cabinet.
Bashir Ahmad Runyal, a former IAS officer who was Ramban district president and state secretary of the PDP, had joined the party prior to the 2014 assembly polls after his retirement and had unsuccessfully contested the elections from Banihal constituency.

Srinagar (J&K), Feb 25 (ANI): Taking a jibe at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah questioned the delay by the BJP-PDP alliance in forming the government in the state, in spite of having good numbers in the assembly. Talking about the present Governor Rule in the state, Abdullah said the rule is imposed when there is no numbers, which is also called the Breakdown of Constitutional Order, where there is no possibility of the formation of a government.
Jammu, Feb 16 (ANI): Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Ravinder Raina on Tuesday asserted that the party is trying to re-establish government in Jammu and Kashmir, adding that BJP-PDP coalition had never broken following the demise of former chief minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. Raina further stated that the saffron party is committed to work towards bringing peace in the Valley. Jammu and Kashmir has been put under Governor's rule since January 8.

Jammu, Jan 13 (ANI): Following the demise of chief minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Wednesday said the BJP will first hold talks with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before any final decision are made regarding the formation of the state government. Singh further emphasised that PDP would soon take a call on the matter and expressed faith that the outcome would be positive.
Srinagar, Jan 10 (ANI): Union Minister Nitin Gadkari on Sunday met People’s Democratic Party president Mehbooba Mufti at her residence.The minister said he had come on behalf of the Indian Government and his party to offer condolences on the demise of Chief Minister (CM) Mufti Mohammad Sayeed. He further said that he had met the late CM around a month ago and had a conversation on industrial development of Jammu and Kashmir.
