Within a gap of three months,Chief Minister Prakash Singh Badal has again opened the government treasury for the Kandi area of the state’s most backward Hoshiarpur district. This time, the amount is likely to be almost double than what he had granted in July.

According to sources in the SAD,Badal, during his one-day visit to Talwara — the most backward area in Hoshiarpur — on November 6 will launch projects worth Rs 27 crore. Three major projects to be launched included laying of foundation of a polytechnic (Rs 15 crore),a grant of Rs 5.34 crore for an Adarsh school and a project of C-Pyte (Rs 6.10 crore).

“The CM wants to make the Kandi area of the most backward district a model area by making all-round development,” a SAD leader said. Party MLA Daljit Singh Cheema, when contacted, confirmed that Badal will visit Talwara on November 6 and also launch several projects.

In July,Badal had given Rs 15 crore for the development of Kandi areas in Hoshiarpur district during his five-day sangat darshan programmes.
