Gogoi admits there is a Modi wave

Gogoi also said that the BJP's prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had chosen to target him personally doing the polls as he was scared.

Assam CM and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi accepted that a Modi wave was indeed sweeping the country. “Yes, they (the BJP) have created a Modi wave. But I don’t think it as strong as publicised,” said Gogoi, who has been denying any wave in favour Modi. “In Assam, my Gogoi magic is stronger than Modi magic,” the CM had recently said.

“They (the BJP) have been successful in creating a wave in the whole country. But there is more publicity than the real wave,” Gogoi said in a television interview here on Sunday evening. He pointed out that the BJP indeed had built up the wave and indulged in immense publicity.

“Despite this I would say it is a different matter how much it (the wave) has been able to influence the people of the country,” Gogoi said.

Chief Minister for 13 years, Gogoi also said that the BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi had chosen to target him personally doing the polls as he was scared. “Modi knows my capabilities. After all I am a very senior leader in the Congress. He knows it is difficult to get votes in Assam when I am around,” Gogoi claimed.
