Centre approves 18 new polytechnics in J-K

The Centre has approved 18 new polytechnic colleges for J-K with a central assistance of Rs 12 crore each of these institutions.

The Centre has approved 18 new polytechnic colleges for Jammu and Kashmir with a central assistance of Rs 12 crore each of these institutions.

The new colleges will be set up in those districts,which are uncovered so far,an official spokesman said. Presently,only Srinagar,Jammu,Leh and Kargil districts have polytechnic colleges and with the setting up of 18 new institutes,all the 22 districts of the state will have this facility,he said.

The approval for these vocational institutes from the Union Human Resource Development ministry will bolster the government’s emphasis on skill development of the youth to enhance their employability in the job market within and outside the country,he said.

Recently,the Essar group has also assured the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to set up two centres in Jammu and Kashmir that would generate employment for state’s 4,000 youths.
