BJP national vice-president Shanta Kumar on Friday came out in defence of BJP president Nitin Gadkari claiming UPA leaders allegedly involved in mega scams were making baseless allegations to tarnish his image and divert the attention of the people from the scams.

Hamirpur:BJP national vice-president Shanta Kumar on Friday came out in defence of BJP president Nitin Gadkari claiming UPA leaders allegedly involved in mega scams were making baseless allegations to tarnish his image and divert the attention of the people from the scams. “The government did not take any action against union minister Salman Khursheed and Robert Vadra on the charges levelled against them but it was prompt in targeting Gadkari,who volunteered to face inquiry by any agency”,he added.

BJP wants inquiry of Virbhadra I-T returns

Shimla:BJP leaders,on Friday,reiterated their demand for an inquiry by SIT into income tax returns filed by former chief minister Virbhadra Singh. In a press conference at Shimla,National Convener (legal) BJP Satpal Jain,emphasised the need for a law to check the income of politicians. Jain alleged that there was massive hike in Virbhadra’s income and said that he or his party should clarify the facts. He added that according to an affidavit filed by Virbhadra in 2009 LS polls,his income was Rs 4.30 lakh. In March 2,2012,in a revised income tax return for 2009,the income was pegged at Rs 2.21 crore. Returns for 2010-11 showed Virbhadra’s income to be Rs 1.55 crore and Rs 18.6 lakh in 2011-12.
