Andhra Maoist confesses to role in building outfit in Jharkhand

An arrested Maoist,who hails from Andhra Pradesh,has confessed to his role in building the Maoist outfit at the grassroots level in the coal belt of Jharkhand,the police said.

Shanker Anna alias Mohammed Hussain alias Sudhakaran (50),a native of Karim Nagar district in Andhra Preadesh and arrested from Bokaro district,is a member of the North Telengana’s special zonal committee of the CPM.

The Andhra Pradesh Police have declared an award of Rs 10 lakh on Sudhakaran,who is in more than 70 cases of murder,extortion and rioting during the past 20 years of his association with the banned Naxalite outfit.

His arrest is likely to resolve many cases of the Naxalite violence in Maharashtra,Andhra Pradesh,Chattisgarh,Orissa,West Bengal and Jharkhand,IG,S N Pradhan told ‘The Indian Express’.

Pradhan said Sudhakaran was working among the workers to build the CPM in the coal belts of Bokaro and Dhanbad. He was arrested with the help of a Bokaro resident. He had been operating from a house he had hired on rent since August 2008,Bokaro SP Priya Dubey said.

He was building the outfit under the banner of the Bhagat Singh Yuva Manch,added Dubey.
