After the Chandigarh Police remained in a “denial mode” regarding involvement of a woman in the sensational murder case of Sukhmanpreet Singh alias Sippy Sidhu, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has acknowledged the presence of a woman at the spot where the victim was murdered.

CBI, through an advertisement, has given an opportunity to the woman to approach the agency if she is not an accused. She will considered as a party to the offence if she fails to turn up before the agency, the advertisement says.

It reads: “There is a reason to believe that a woman was accompanying the murderer of Sukhmanpreet alias Sippy Sidhu at the time of murder. The said woman is also given this opportunity to come forward and contact us if she is innocent. Otherwise it shall be presumed that she was the party to the offence.”

Sippy Sidhu – a national-level shooter – was shot dead by unidentified persons at a Sector 27 park on the night of September 20, 2015. Sippy’s family alleged that the daughter of a former woman judge of Punjab and Haryana High Court was involved in the murder was she called him to the park. The case was transferred to the CBI in January this year.

The family of the deceased had also suspected a woman’s involvement in the crime.

Sippy’s family members welcomed the CBI’s move. Sippy’s mother Deepinder Kaur said it was a “ray of hope” for them with regard to the probe.
