The RSS has observed that the distribution of election tickets has led to resentment among workers of the NDA constituents, including the BJP. An article in the RSS mouthpiece Panchajanya, published Sunday, begins with an example of resentment among workers of the grand alliance constituents — Congress, JD(U), RJD — before going on to state, “NDA me bhi sab kuch thik nahin hai (No everything is all right in the NDA either)”.
Another article in the same edition highlights three weaknesses in the NDA — resentment within the parties’ organisation, low strength among backward and extremely backward sections, and sidelining of upper caste leaders.
The article on ticket distribution cites the example of Bhagalpur, where the BJP has fielded Arijit Shashwat, son of party MP Ashwini Kumar Choubey. It says the party’s local workers are upset with the decision.
It cites an instance from September 21 when RLSP ticket aspirant Ashok Gupta wailed at a press conference and rolled on the floor, alleging bribery in deciding the ticket for Narkatiaganj. The article notes there is dissent in the LJP too “but party leader Chirag Paswan has managed to pacify some dissatisfied leaders to an extent”. Having brought up those instances, the article says resentment among BJP workers over ticket distribution is less than that in other parties.
While the article attacks Lalu Prasad for using the RJD to promote his family in politics, it observes that relatives of BJP leaders too got tickets but justifies that by stating that these relatives are dedicated party workers. The article says Choubey’s son Shashwat senior leader Ganga Prasad’s son Sanjeev Kumar Chaurasia, for example, have been working in the party organisation for a long time.
