Sources in the Delhi Police have claimed that a 31-year-old Jamshedpur resident was sent to train in Pakistan by Abdul Rehman, who was recently arrested from Cuttack for allegedly indoctrinating youth and is suspected to be a member of al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).
The sources added that Rehman had provided logistic support, including passport, to the Jamshedpur resident.
Sources said the Jamshedpur resident reportedly went to Pakistan in 2014 and stayed near Af-Pak border for training. While his identity could not be ascertained, the sources said he was a tutor in a ‘madrasa’.
Sources said Rehman visited Jamshedpur often for delivering hate speeches. He had radicalized at least half-a-dozen of youths from Jamshedpur, they claimed. Earlier, Rehman had sent a youth from Hyderabad identified as Umar Hyderabadi to Pakistan after radicalising him, said sources.
Sources said the investigating agencies have so far identified six Indians who are staying in Pakistan and are allegedly associated with AQIS.
