Gaganpreet Makkar, the woman who was allegedly behind the wheel of a BMW that was involved in a crash in Delhi Cantonment Metro on Sunday, which resulted in the death of one person, has been arrested. Navjot Singh, a Finance Ministry official and his wife, Sandeep Kaur, were returning from the Bangla Sahib Gurudwara on their motorcycle when the BMW rammed into them. In her complaint, Kaur has alleged that despite her pleading to Makkar to take them to the nearest hospital, the woman took them to a hospital around 20 km away. Read more

Trouble seems to be mounting for the world's most valuable company, Nvidia, in one of its biggest markets. China’s market regulator on Monday said that a preliminary investigation had found that Nvidia had violated the country’s anti-monopoly law. Due to US sanctions, Nvidia is not allowed to export some of its most advanced semiconductors, leaving Chinese firms at a disadvantage when it comes to AI and LLMs. According to China’s antitrust law, companies found in violation can face fines of between 1% and 10% of their annual sales from the previous year. Filmmaker Karan Johar has filed a plea in the Delhi High Court against disparaging memes targeting him, as well as the use of his name unauthorisedly to sell merchandise. In his plea, Johar alleged that 'lines are being crossed' and that his name is being used unauthorisedly to raise funds. Hearing the plea, the Delhi High Court on Monday said a mechanism can be put in place to take action in such cases. Earlier, Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan had also filed similar complaints against the misuse of their images and names. Read more

In what could be the first step towards de-escalating the recent rift between India and the US, an American delegation will visit New Delhi on Tuesday. Trade ties between the two countries have been severely affected after US President Donald Trump imposed a 50 per cent tariff on imports from India. Both sides have since refused to budge from their respective positions, but last week, Trump said in a social media post that India and the US are “continuing negotiations to address the trade barriers”. Nepal’s interim Prime Minister Sushila Karki has named three members of her cabinet, as the country tries to put last week's violent protests behind. The three ministers named by PM Karki are Rameshwore Prasad Khanal (Finance), Kulman Ghising (Energy) and Om Prakash Aryal (Interior). The violent protest led by Nepal's youth had resulted in the death of 72 people and forced the resignation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli. Read more
