Soumya murder case: 4 sent to police custody

The four accused in TV journalist Soumya Viswanathan murder case was remanded in police custody on Saturday by a Delhi court.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kiran Bansal remanded Ravi Kapoor,Amit Kumar Shukla and Baljit Malik in police custody till April 9 while fourth accused Ajay has been remanded in three days police custody in the murder case.

Meanwhile,Tihar Jail Superintendent filed his reply to the allegations of accused Kapoor that he was physically tortured during the judicial custody which resulted into a fracture in his leg.

Seeking joint custodial interrogation of four accused,the police officer said,”We have to recover the weapon of offence and the car which was used by the accused in chasing Soumya Vishwanathan on the night of offence”.

The Court had on April one asked the Tihar Jail Superintendent to appear in person on April 4 to explain the non-filing of the medical report by the jail authorities after Kapoor alleged that he was tortured by the police.

Soumya,an employee of an English news channel,was found shot dead in her car on September 30 last year while returning home from office.
