Kanpur woman alleges rape and blackmail

Police have registered an FIR in this case.

A 25-year-old woman employee of a private engineering college has alleged that she was raped by her lover who also blackmailed her with a video recording of the crime, police said today.

The woman has alleged that the accused, Dipendra Niranjan, drugged her and raped her about one an-half-year ago. She also alleged that she was forced to establish physical relation with his relative Kallu Patel, Kalyanpur police station SHO Santosh Singh said.

A complaint was lodged in this connection by the woman’s brother.

Police have registered an FIR in this case and probing all angles as the incident took place one-an-half year ago.

The accused, who works in Delhi, stayed in regular touch with the woman through telephone, he added.
