Chargesheet filed against JK govt official in bribery case

The official was alleged caught red-handed accepting a bribe on the Srinagar-Jammu highway.

Jammu and Kashmir State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) has filed a chargesheet against a senior officer of General Reserve Engineer Force (GREF) who was allegedly caught red handed while accepting bribe last year.

The chargesheet against the accused Superintendent Electrical Mechanical Grade-I (GREF) Shishir Kumar Yadav was filed in the court of special judge anti-corruption in Srinagar on Saturday,a spokesman of the SVO said on Sunday.

He said Yadav,then posted at Jawahar Tunnel along the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway,was facing charges of demanding and accepting Rs 14,000 from a resident of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district for allowing three trailers loaded with some machinery to cross the tunnel.

The next date of hearing in the case has been fixed for February 24,the spokesman added.
