Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday directed Uttar Pradesh CM Yogi Adityanath to ensure 100% implementation of the three new criminal laws in all seven commissionerates by March 31 and across the state as soon as possible.
He was speaking at a review meeting with the UP CM and other officials in the North Block on the implementation of three new criminal laws.
During the meeting, implementation and the current status of various new provisions related to police, prisons, courts, prosecution and forensics in Uttar Pradesh were reviewed.
Shah said the new criminal laws brought under the leadership of PM Narendra Modi are not punishment-oriented but victim-centric and their aim is to ensure speedy justice. “Shah asked CM Yogi Adityanath to review the progress of implementation of new criminal laws in the month of February and implement these laws fully in the state as soon as possible,” the MHA said in a statement.
Shah said that the full implementation of new criminal laws in states with large populations like UP will send a positive message across the entire country.
Stressing the need to increase use of technology, Shah said there should be more than one forensic mobile van available in every district of the state. He also said forensic teams should be divided into three categories – serious, common, and very common – so that resources and experts can be used more efficiently.
