AS PRIME Minister Narendra Modi heads to Delaware for his first stop in the three-day packed US trip early Saturday, New Delhi and Washington have worked on enhanced security measures for him due to heightened security concerns.
The conversation between Indian and American security officials took place over the last 15 days, especially with the two assassination attempts on former US President Donald Trump.
The Indian Express has learnt that the US Secret Service has “enhanced” the security in and around the venues, where the PM will visit in Delaware and New York.
This is also keeping in mind the threats from pro-Khalistan elements in the US.
Modi will leave for the US early Saturday and meet US President Joe Biden later in the day, before they both head to the Quad leaders’ summit, which will also be attended by Japan PM Fumio Kishida and Australian PM Anthony Albanese.
Sources said the four world leaders will gather at Archmere Academy where the US President attended high school. Biden attended Archmere after his family moved to Delaware. He has said the priests at the private school heavily influenced him as he grew up. There, he played football and learned to overcome his stutter, according to the White House.
The area is being secured for any intruders or objects that might pose a risk to the leaders. Sources said there will be no crowd or students at the event.

The Special Protection Group (SPG) and the US Secret Service are also coordinating the proximate security of Modi in New York, where he will address the Indian diaspora on September 22.
The Indian community event will take place at the Nassau Coliseum, Uniondale, Nassau County in New York, and the Nassau County police are mobilising personnel to secure the event.
Incidentally, Nassau County hosted the T20 World Cup earlier this year, where an India-Pakistan match was also held. So, it has experience in crowd control and security screening in large numbers for an event, which is expected to be attended by around 20,000 people.
The US Secret Service is leaning on the Nassau County police to secure the perimeter and screen the crowd, so that there are no surprises, sources said.
