What Bobby Deol told Aryan Khan after The Ba***ds of Bollywood teaser dropped: ‘What I’ll miss the most in this show is you as an actor’
Bobby Deol, who plays a film superstar in Aryan Khan's directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood, is all praise for Shah Rukh Khan's son.

Aryan Khan’s directorial debut The Ba***ds of Bollywood drops on Netflix India today. Unlike his father, Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan has chosen not to pursue acting. However, since the teaser dropped last month, like the entire internet, Bobby Deol also agrees that Aryan has the potential to become a great actor as well.
“He’s a very good actor! Had he not been an actor, he wouldn’t have been able to extract work out of all of us. Because he understands us. For instance, the famous scene in which Aasman (Lakshya) is being interviewed, Aryan is able to act out and demonstrate even the interviewer. He could do that with a little lisp. He’s such a talented boy,” said Bobby.
Bobby Deol told The Hollywood Reporter India that he called up Aryan Khan after watching the show’s teaser, in which Aryan introduces his world to the audience, facing the camera himself. “I told him, ‘You know what I’ll miss the most on this show? I’ll miss you as an actor. He has such a persona! Yes, he looks like his father, but he’s not his father. He’s totally different, and people will realize that eventually,” added Bobby.
Bobby claimed that while Aryan has all the goods to be an actor, he’s instead chosen “the most difficult job” of being a filmmaker. Bobby plays a film superstar in Aryan’s show, which also features Raghav Juyal, Sahher Bammba, Anya Singh, Mona Singh, Gautami Kapoor, Rajat Bedi, Manoj Pahwa, and Manish Chaudhari among others.
On the show My Next Guest with David Letterman in 2019, Shah Rukh Khan told the host why his elder son doesn’t want to be an actor like him. “He doesn’t have what it takes to be an actor and he realises that too, but he’s a good writer. I think wanting to be an actor has to come from within. Something you really need to do and find a set of skill that helps you do it and learn it. But I think I realised it from him when he said that to me,” said Shah Rukh.
In an exclusive interview with SCREEN, Sahher lauded Aryan Khan’s filmmaking skills and how his grasp on human traits goes far beyond Mumbai. “Usually, when you meet people from the industry, because of the sheltered and cocooned lives they’ve lived, they’re not really aware of what’s happening in the world. They don’t know what the issues of the aam janta (common people) are, or what’s happening in the villages of India. But he’s somebody, if you ask him to enact a villager or a small town dweller, he’d do it to the T. I don’t know how he does it,” she said.
