Had disagreements with Aryan Khan during Bads of Bollywood, says Manoj Pahwa: ‘Aapke mooh pe gaali achi lagti hai’

Manoj Pahwa said that he had a few disagreements over his character's language in Aryan Khan's The Ba***ds of Bollywood. He said a particular line for Shah Rukh Khan only after SRK personally okayed it.

Aryan Khan’s Netflix series The Ba***ds of Bollywood was one of the biggest surprises of 2025. Along with Lakshya, Raghav Juyal, Mona Singh, Anya Singh, the show also starred Manoj Pahwa, who was seen in the role of an uncouth uncle. His character was shown to be quite loose with his language, and in a recent interview, Manoj shared that he had a few disagreements with Aryan, especially with regard to the abusive language used on the show, but he was assured that Shah Rukh Khan had approved all of it. SRK was the producer of the show, and this was his son Aryan’s debut directorial series.

In a chat with Kunal Vijaykar on his YouTube channel Khaane Mein Kya Hai, Manoj was praised for his work on the show and he instantly said, “I want to give Aryan all the credit for this.” Manoj shared that while other actors had also auditioned for the part, Aryan was keen on casting him for the role.

As far as his character and the language was concerned, Manoj said that he had a few disagreements with Aryan. “On a couple of occasions, we had a bit of disagreement as well,” he said and added, “Main bola itni gaali vaali yaar, matlab mereko thodi si…. Itna badtameez aadmi. (I said so many abuses, I mean I was… What an uncouth fellow).” At this point, Aryan said, “Sir, believe me, it will look nice. Trust me.”

Manoj said that he was quite hesitant to say ‘ghante ka badshah’ for Shah Rukh Khan but Aryan told him that SRK had approved these dialogues. “(I said) Shah Rukh sir ko bola ‘ghante ka badshah’, maine bola aise thodi yaar… He said, ‘Dad ne script padhi hui hai. Aapke mooh se gali badi achi lagti hai. Dad ne bola hai yeh rakhna zaroor. (I said I am calling Shah Rukh ‘ghante ka badshah’, that’s not okay… He said, “Dad has read the script, and abusive words sound good coming from you. Dad has said keep this in the script).”
