After a stupendous performance in Taj, Aditi Rao Hydari is now set to enchant fans with Jubilee. The actor essays the role of Sumita Kumari, a superstar in the 40s, who lived and longed for love. The Vikram Motwane directorial also stars Prosenjit Chatterjee, Aparshakti Khurana, Siddhant Gupta and Wamiqa Gabbi among others.

In a chat with indianexpress.com, Aditi confessed that just like her on-screen character, she too takes decisions in life based on love and relationships. “Look at me, is there a doubt? I am a real duffer. Everything is about love for me. Even when there’s a lot of ‘kachar pachar‘ (negative noise) around, I will go and find that one nice thing there,” the actor said. Aditi is rumoured to be dating actor Siddharth.

Elaborating on the same in reference to her character, Aditi Rao Hydari said that there’s so much vulnerability but she hides it all. “I really believe that the most childish you are, the more fearless, open, and vulnerable you can be. And one is lucky to be able to do that. Sumita is a powerful actress in a man’s world but she hides her emotions to guard herself. She longs for love but becomes like this prickly person. That makes her decide to possibly give away everything, give away her world. I just feel blessed that I got to play that part.”

We further quizzed her on the changes she sees in the life of a female actor, personally and professionally, as compared to that in the 40s. “It’s very different actually,” she shared, adding that in the web series, audiences will get to see more of Sumita Kumari’s personal journey. It would focus on the emotional turmoil she goes through beneath the stardom and public image she has.

Aditi further said, “I also felt that for us, we are very accessible and it’s encouraged from us. However, in that time.. sometimes we all talk about how it’s difficult and lonely, but it’s actually not. We are surrounded by our team, there is social media and so many other things. But back then, they were kind of unreachable and unattainable. Also, she kind of built a fortress around herself, maybe to protect her little heart. And that’s such a huge difference and it was so interesting to get into that.”

Thanking director Vikram Motwane, the actor said that she feels honoured to have been picked for the part. “It was such a pleasure to love this journey with a director I love and respect so much. It just made the experience so juicy,” she laughed. Aditi added that Sumita Kumar, for her, is a “vibe” who wouldn’t let the world realise what she was going through. “And me, whatever I am feeling just shows on my stupid face,” she concluded with a sigh.

The first part of Jubilee consisting of five episodes will drop on April 7 and the rest episodes will follow next week.
