Samantha Ruth Prabhu was ‘scared of being replaced’ before, now she is happy without any releases or blockbuster films: ‘I don’t have a 1000-crore film’
Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu talks about her new and improved attitude towards work and how her diagnosis affected her outlook.

Actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu finds space for herself in the tabloids across the country by some way or the other, whether it be her performances, daily habits, or rumoured boyfriends. The actor recently talked about being diagnosed with myositis. Even though the actor is dealing with an ailment that is targeting her immune system, she stated that she is stronger than ever and now has a fresh outlook towards life and work.
During the Leadership Conclave at AIMA, Samantha talked about how she has detached herself from the old version of herself, a version that was worried about doing as much work as possible. She said, “The previous version of me probably had five films releasing in a year because that was the symbol of a successful actor… you needed to have five films, a big blockbuster, and you had to be on the list of Top 10 actors. That was needed to be endorsing the biggest multinational brands. Today, I haven’t had a film release in two years, and I am not on any lists. I don’t have a 1000-crore film, but I am the happiest I have ever been.”
While talking about her new relaxed lifestyle, Samantha Ruth Prabhu also admitted that actors don’t have a lot of time on their hands in regard to their careers. “I think that as an actor you have a short shelf life. Stardom, fame and recognition can be so heady, and you can, for a brief moment, think that it is all you. But it is not true. There is a lot of destiny and grace that comes to you when you are a star. It is not completely your own effort. I think it was very important for me to understand that I wanted to create an impact larger than my shelf life as an actor,” said the actor.
Samantha also talked about how the previous version of herself had a frail mindset, one which would break under pressure with each Friday. She said, “I was so fragile. Every Friday would change and give me anxiety that someone will claim my position tomorrow and I will be replaced. My whole self-worth was based on the calculator of that Friday.”
Samantha Ruth Prabhu was last seen in Amazon Prime Video’s action-thriller series Citadel: Honey Bunny, alongside Varun Dhawan.
