Pushpa 2 The Rule Movie Box Office Records: Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna-starrer Pushpa 2: The Rule has broken several box office records on its first day of release.

Defying all expectations and breaking what was believed to be a box office ceiling for Indian films, Pushpa 2: The Rule shattered numerous records on its first day of release. The film made more than Rs 280 crore worldwide on day one, eclipsing SS Rajamouli’s RRR to become the highest-opener in the history of Indian cinema. Starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is a sequel to 2021’s Pushpa: The Rise, which made more than Rs 360 crore worldwide. Pushpa 2 will overtake its predecessor before it completes even one weekend in theatres.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, Pushpa 2 has broken as many as 10 opening day box office records for Indian films, after a countrywide marketing campaign.

Pushpa 2 broke RRR’s Rs 223 global gross record to become the biggest opener in the history of Indian cinema.

With Rs 175 crore in India, it broke RRR’s Rs 156 crore record to become the biggest domestic opener ever.

It is also the first Indian film to earn more than Rs 200 crore in gross revenue on opening day.

It’s the first to gross more than Rs 50 crore in two different languages on day one.

Pushpa 2 broke the opening day record of Shah Rukh Khan’s Jawan in the Hindi language, and set new benchmarks for Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandana, Mythri Movie Makers, and director Sukumar.

Additionally, it also broke Kalki 2898 AD’s record for the biggest overseas debut ever for an Indian film

It also set a new record for the biggest debut ever for a South Indian film in the Hindi belt.

Pushpa 2 opened to mostly positive reviews, with particular praise going to the ‘Jaathara’ sequence. In his review, Indian Express’ Anandu Suresh described Pushpa 2 as “a film that has faltered under the weight of performance pressure and towering expectations.”
