Niharika on rumoured family rift over Allu Arjun supporting YSRCP candidate against uncle Pawan Kalyan: ‘We didn’t speak about it at home as…’

Prior to the Andhra Pradesh Assembly election, Allu Arjun had stirred controversy by visiting the YSRCP Nandyal candidate, even though his uncle Pawan Kalyan was contesting against Jagan Mohan Reddy's party.

The recent Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly election was significant for actor “Power Star” Pawan Kalyan, as his Jana Sena Party (JSP) won 21 seats and, together with its ally Telugu Desam Party (TDP), which secured 135 segments, took control of the state. However, this victory has seemingly caused a rift in his family. Kalyan is part of the affluent Allu-Konidela family in the Telugu movie industry, which includes stars like Chiranjeevi, Allu Aravind, Nagendra Babu, Allu Arjun and Ram Charan.

Prior to the election, actor Allu Arjun had stirred controversy by visiting YSRCP Nandyal candidate Silpa Ravi Chandra Kishore Reddy, even though JSP and TDP were contesting against Jagan Mohan Reddy’s party. Following this visit, Nagendra Babu reportedly posted a cryptic tweet on X (formerly Twitter), which many believed was aimed at Arjun. “He who is with us but works for the opponents is a stranger even if he is ours, and he who stands with us is ours even if he is a stranger,” the now-deleted tweet stated, according to Filmibeat.

After voting, the Pushpa actor clarified to the media that he is neutral and not affiliated with any political party. “I always extend my support to my near and dear ones irrespective of any political party. It could be my uncle Pawan Kalyan Garu, my friend Silpa Chandra Ravi Reddy in Nandyal, or my father-in-law Chandrasekhar Reddy Garu. My support will always be there for people who I am close to,” he told the media.

Now, Arjun’s cousin and Babu’s daughter, actor Niharika Konidela, has addressed the rumoured family rift. “We didn’t actually talk too much about it. We didn’t speak about it at home because everyone has their own reasons. Politically, religiously, spiritually, everyone has a choice to do what they want,” she said during a recent chat with M9, Hindustan Times reported.

Denying that her father’s tweet was about Arjun, she claimed that he must have shared his ‘opinion’ on something else. She, however, added, “For me, it’s always family first and I can only speak for myself.”

Kishore Reddy, however, lost the Nandyal seat to YSRCP’s NMD Farooq by a majority of over 12,000 votes. Kalyan is currently a member of the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly from the Pithapuram constituency and the Deputy Chief Minister of the state, under Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.
