Allu Arjun’s father Allu Aravind addresses remarks on Ram Charan’s Game Changer failure: ‘He is my only sister’s son…’
Allu Arjun’s father and film producer Allu Aravind recently made some remarks that many felt was a veiled dig at his nephew Ram Charan over the failure of his latest film Game Changer.

While speculation about tensions within the Allu-Konidela fort has been going on since last year’s Andhra Pradesh Legislative Assembly elections, when Pushpa star Allu Arjun publicly supported his close friend Silpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy — who contested from Nandyal on a YSRCP ticket — rather than his relative and Jana Sena Party (JSP) chief Pawan Kalyan, the rumours gained more traction recently after Arjun’s father and film producer Allu Aravind made some remarks that many felt was a veiled dig at his nephew Ram Charan over the failure of his latest film Game Changer.
The controversy emerged when Game Changer producer Dil Raju attended a promotional event for the Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi-starrer Thandel, produced by Aravind’s Geetha Arts. While joking about the recent Income Tax Department raids on Raju’s properties, Aravind also quipped that the producer had experienced both a hit and failure around the same time, with the box office success being director Anil Ravipudi’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam, starring Venkatesh, Meenakshi Chaudhary and Aishwarya Rajesh. “Dil Raju made history recently. One of his films was like this (gestures downward, implying Game Changer), while another was like this (gestures upward, referring to Sankranthiki Vasthunam). He also faced an Income Tax raid. A lot happened in one week,” Aravind remarked, laughing.
However, the comment did not sit well with fans of Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan, prompting Aravind to clarify his stance during a press conference in Hyderabad on Monday. “This is emotional and personal to me, I need to address this. That day, when I addressed Dil Raju, I only meant that he saw loss and gain within a week. I was trolled so much for it, but the implication of it was unintentional,” Hindustan Times quoted him as saying. “Charan is like my son… he is my only menalludu (sister’s son), I am his only mavayya (maternal uncle). Our relationship is excellent, so please leave it alone. I understand now that I should not have brought it up at all,” he added.
Helmed by S Shankar, Game Changer had bombed at the box office grossing just Rs 185.1 crore worldwide against a reported budget of Rs 400 crore. The film’s failure was a significant setback for Ram Charan as it marked his first release in nearly three years. His previous film, Koratala Siva’s Acharya (2022), had also flopped, despite featuring both Ram Charan and his megastar father Chiranjeevi.
During last year’s elections, Allu Arjun had notably refrained from publicly endorsing Pawan Kalyan, the brother of Telugu megastar Chiranjeevi who is married to Arjun’s paternal aunt Surekha. In contrast, Chiranjeevi and Surekha’s son Ram Charan participated in JSP’s campaign. Instead, Arjun and his wife Sneha Reddy visited Silpa Ravichandra Kishore Reddy’s residence, greeting thousands of supporters from there. Given that YSRCP and JSP were political rivals in that election, speculations arose that Arjun’s stance may have caused friction within the family.
