Vicky Jain on stepping into Shah Rukh Khan’s shoes for the reboot of Fauji: ‘We might go and visit him soon’

Vick Jain also credited his wife, Ankita Lokhande, for supporting him in his acting endeavours. “Ankita has been like my rock. I would not be here if she would not have been there in my life. She gives me that confidence that ‘yes you can do it and I’m going to be there’. When somebody is there constantly with you, who can just tell you these things at the right time, it really helps. When sometimes you don’t know what you can do, it’s important to have somebody there who can just tell you and makes it easy for you and Ankita has always been that.”

Earlier this week, Sandeep Singh shared Fauji 2’s announcement video on social media, paying tribute to the original. The nostalgic clip features scenes of Shah Rukh Khan from Fauji, marking one of his earliest television appearances. The title track of Fauji 2 has been voiced by singer Sonu Nigam, with music composition by Shreyas Puranik.

Sharing this clip, Sandeep wrote on Instagram, “The most prestigious show ever made in India is coming back! We are honored to bring you the return of the greatest show celebrating our real heroes – Fauji 2. Join us on this remarkable journey.”

In a statement, Sandeep Singh said, “We are bringing back one of the greatest shows ever seen on television but in a new and exciting version. The 1989 Fauji gave us Shah Rukh Khan, who captivated the entire nation with his extraordinary energy and talent. With Fauji 2, I hope to recreate history and connect with every Indian, especially the youth.”

The new series introduces Bigg Boss 17 fame Vikas Jain as Colonel Sanjay Singh and actress Gauahar Khan as Lieutenant Colonel Simarjeet Kaur, a cadet trainer specialising in weaponry. Sandeep Singh is set to introduce 12 new actors to the audience, selected for their talent from various regions across India.

Directed by Nishant Chandrashekhar and Abhinav Pareek, Fauji 2 will air on Doordarshan in six languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Gujarati, Punjabi, and Bengali.

Fauji first aired in 1989 and was created by Lt. Col. Raj Kumar Kapoor. It revolved around the lives of Indian Army recruits undergoing training at a military academy. Shah Rukh Khan played the lead role of Abhimanyu Rai, a dedicated and determined soldier in training. The show is often remembered by fans for its engaging storyline and SRK’s portrayal of the ambitious young soldier. Fauji also starred Rakesh Sharma, Vishwajeet Pradhan, Sanjay Taneja, Amina Shervani, and others.
