An artwork based on the long-running animated series ‘The Simpsons’ will be painted on the side of the Emerald Art Center in Springfield, Oregon to commemorate the show’s ties to the real town.

A print artist, who works for 20th Century Fox Television, is working on an original artwork on which the mural will be based, reported Ace Showbiz. Mayor Christine Lundberg said, “We’ve been looking for ways to celebrate Matt’s Oregon connection with our Springfield for several years. We thought public art would be the perfect venue, and Matt agreed.”‘

City spokesman Niel Laudati said the mural was expected to be completed in mid-September. He revealed that the mural would feature Homer lying in a hammock, Bart climbing a tree, Marge painting and Lisa and Maggie riding a bike. “You can’t miss the fact that it’s a specific piece for this Springfield,” Laudati said. The mural is estimated to cost USD 10,000 and the city will use tax revenue from hotel rooms to pay for it.
