Yet another season of the business reality television series Shark Tank India is here, with each episode becoming more intense and dramatic than the last, much to the delight of viewers. Now, social media influencer and entrepreneur Gaurav Taneja, popularly known as Flying Beast, is set to step onto the Shark Tank India floor to present his fitness brand named Beast Life to the ‘sharks’. Ahead of the episode’s premiere, the show’s makers unveiled another teaser to fuel the anticipation. In the promo, Taneja can be seen sharing his journey from being a pilot to a social media influencer and, ultimately, an entrepreneur.

Reflecting on his childhood and how he ended up in the US for pilot training, Taneja told the ‘sharks’, “I was born in Kanpur and I did my schooling also there. After that, I did my engineering at IIT Kharagpur. My father wanted me to do a master’s in civil engineering. However, I did not have any interest in it. Then I left for the US to do flying. After completing my training, I worked as a flight instructor in 1-2 places. In 2010, I started flying as an airline captain.”

Sharing that he has always had a passion for gyms, Gaurav Taneja called it his true calling. “In 2013, I went to watch a bodybuilding show. There, I saw people coming onto the stage and some 5,000 people applauding for them. I wanted this feeling. I made a commitment to myself that the next year, I would compete in that show. I underwent preparations and when I went on stage the next year, for the first time, I won the title of Mr Delhi. Then I did competitive bodybuilding for four years.”

When Shark Vineeta Singh, CEO and co-founder of Sugar Cosmetics, asked if he achieved this by quitting his job and focusing entirely on bodybuilding, Taneja revealed that he balanced both without giving up one for the other. “Then I began my journey as a fitness influencer and started my YouTube channel ‘FitMuscle TV’. After making videos for a year, I felt only those interested in fitness were watching my videos and started thinking about how to bring a new audience. That’s when I started lifestyle vlogging because I travel a lot and thus started our journey, in December 2017. Currently, my YouTube channel (Flying Beast) has over 9.5 million subscribers, and I have over 3.7 million followers on Instagram.”
