Shailesh Lodha sues Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah makers, show’s project head says ‘never denied or refused to give his payment’
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah makers had earlier dismissed Shailesh Lodha's claim that they haven’t cleared his dues.

(Photo: Shailesh Lodha/Instagram) Actor Shailesh Lodha, who played the titular role of Taarak Mehta in the television sitcom Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah (TMKOC), left the show in April 2022. Now, the actor, after complaining about unpaid dues, has taken the matter to court.
According to latest reports, Lodha has taken legal action against the makers of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah to get his pending payment. According to a report in Hindustan Times, Lodha had filed a complaint against TMKOC producer Asit Modi in March for his unpaid dues and had also sued his production company. Lodha had also reached out to the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) to sort the issue. The hearing in this matter is slated to be held in May. Lodha did not want to comment on the issue and said, “The matter is subjudice and under court, so I’ll not comment anything on this.”
Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’s Asit Modi too avoided commenting on this matter. However, the show’s project head, Sohil Ramani, said, “There isn’t much to say that hasn’t been said earlier. Shailesh Lodha has been like a family only. When he left we respected that. And on numerous occasions through email and on telephone we have requested him to come to the office to sign all required paperwork and take his remaining numeration. We have never denied or refused to give his payment. In every company when people leave, they have to sign full and final papers before complete payment is released. Where is the issue? Instead of going around and complaining, isn’t it better to simply follow the regular procedure?”
Ramani also stated that the company doesn’t wish to pursue the case. He said, “We are not pursuing any case, because we did not refuse to give his payment. We have already informed sir (Lodha) to take his dues and sign the required papers.”
Earlier reports suggested that Shailesh Lodha left Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah in April last year, after a rift with Asit Modi.
