Mohit Raina, who first gained fame after playing Lord Shiva in the television show Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, recently shared a heartfelt story about his late father. He revealed that the day he was confirmed for the iconic role was the same day he lost his father.

In a candid conversation with Ranveer Allahbadia on his YouTube channel, Mohit said, “I have never said this but my father was a firm believer in Lord Shiva. So, I think this role was a gift from my father to me. Because the day I got the confirmation that I am playing Lord Shiva that was the day I lost my father. So, I feel it was his gift for me because it can’t be a coincidence. I wanted to give my best to the show as I thought it was a gift from him.”

Following his immense popularity in Devon Ke Dev Mahadev, Mohit Raina ventured into the world of cinema with the 2008 comedy film Don Muthu Swami. Later, he gained widespread acclaim for his role alongside Vicky Kaushal in the blockbuster film Uri: The Surgical Strike. He also appeared in projects like Shiddat and Mrs. Serial Killer.

Mohit Raina made a significant career move by leaving television at the peak of his success. In a previous interview with indianexpress.com, he expressed his contentment with this decision. When he was asked if he felt the step was worth it, he said, “Absolutely. When I came to Mumbai, I was never driven by money or fame ever. I didn’t know about these things, so I had nothing to lose. I only wanted to fulfil my creative needs. I was in a relationship with the camera and it did not bother me which medium it belonged to. I have no regrets and God has been kind with the kind of opportunities I got in my career.”

In addition to his film career, Mohit has been part of web series such as Mumbai Diaries 26/11 (2021) and The Freelancer (2023), where he shared the screen with veteran actor Anupam Kher.
