Following the tragic Karur stampede, Vijay broke his silence after a month to address the matter. He criticized Chief Minister MK Stalin and the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), alleging that they “peddled lies” as part of a political game devoid of humanity. Speaking during TVK’s general council meeting, Vijay explained that he had remained silent because he was in mourning. “I was in indescribable pain and distress all these days because of losing members of our family. In such a situation, it is our duty to stand by the feelings of our own people.”

Tearing into his political adversaries, Vijay further alleged, “During the time of silence and mourning, meaningless rumours and malicious political narratives were spread and forced upon us. All of this will be destroyed with the support of law and truth.” Vijay is also gearing up for the release of his next film, Jana Nayagan, which is slated to hit theatres on 9 January 2026. Reportedly, this will be his 69th and final film as a lead actor as he transitions to full-time politics.
