Vignesh Shivan apologises to fans of Vijay and Lokesh Kanagaraj: ‘Stop wasting your time in commenting about this silly mistake’

Vignesh Shivan liked a tweet of a X user who often critcises Vijay and his fans. The Poda Podi director has now apologised for his mistake.

A small slip on social media could lead to one becoming a victim of a targeted attack. Even a normal act of liking a tweet could end you in trouble as it did for director Vignesh Shivan. The Poda Podi director liked a tweet of a user, who is notorious among Vijay fans. The tweet claimed that Lokesh Kanagaraj and Vijay had a fallout after the release of the Naa Varava song from Leo, and it claimed that all was not well between the director and the star.

Vijay fans were enraged to find that director Vignesh Shivan had liked the tweet. Many Vijay fans trolled him online leading to the director apologising for his ‘silly mistake’. In a long statement, Vignesh Shivan claimed that he didn’t see the tweet’s content and had liked it just because it was about Lokesh Kanagaraj. He asked fans not to waste time on this mistake and to celebrate Leo.

He wrote, “Dear Vijay sir fans, Loki fans… sorry for the confusion. Without even seeing the msg, the context or the content of the video or the tweet, by just seeing Loki’s interview I liked the video! cos am a big fan of his works, his interviews and the way he speaks! Am also eagerly awaiting the grand release of Thalapathy Vijay sir’s Leo. By impulse, I just liked seeing Loki bro’s image in the interview, the same way I saw a shot of Nayan in a video clip where she had performed brilliantly and it was one of my fav shots so instantly liked that tweet also …. My bad! I didn’t even see the video inside or read the tweet involved in both cases! Should have been careful! Sorry. So it’s a silly mistake from my side! And I express my apologies to all the good Thalapathy fans across the globe. Waiting to see the blockbuster movie on 19th October with the same excitement as ya’ll! (sic)”

Leo has become a touchy subject online ever since the audio launch of the film was cancelled leading to speculations that Vijay is being targetted for his rumoured political ambitions. There’s a huge expectation for the film due to such factors. Also, the film has become a subject of controversy. From Lokesh Kanagaraj getting called out for glorifying violence to rumours about his alleged fallout with Vijay, Leo is constantly the topic of discussion in Kollywood.

The film will be released on October 19.
