TVK leader calls for Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 to be banned: ‘A disgusting, low-class, indecent programme’

Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has called for a ban on Bigg Boss Tamil in Tamil Nadu, alleging that the show disrespects Tamil culture.

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9Season 9 of Bigg Boss Tamil has courted controversy.

Just a week after premiering, Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 has landed in controversy. The political party Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has called for the reality show to be banned in Tamil Nadu, alleging that it disrespects Tamil culture. Party MLA Velmurugan issued a statement highlighting specific scenes deemed inappropriate for general audiences — particularly for children and “mature” girls

The statement read, “Bigg Boss is showing activities that is targeting Tamil culture and tradition, and it is trying to destroy the future of students. Disgusting body movements, kissing scenes and bedroom scenes, which cannot be viewed in the presence of a mature girl or children, are being shown. They have not shown sexual scenes until now.”

He added, “I have approached the Speaker with an attention-seeking motion. If the Speaker does not admit the motion for discussion and if the Chief Minister, as well as the IT and Broadcast departments, do not ban it, we will stage a major protest inside Bigg Boss arena and at Vijay Television, along with several thousand women. My question is if Vijay TV should make money by continuing to host such a disgusting, low-class, indecent programme.”

During the press conference hosted by the part, Velmurugan also said, “The script writers don’t care if the Tamil community suffers any harm. They are running the programme on the basis that money is most important.”

Bigg Boss Tamil Season 9 was previously hosted by Kamal Haasan, and Vijay Sethupathi took over in season 8. The contestants include actors, influencers, models, comedians, and even television anchors.
