The fan-association Nadigarthilagam Sivaji Samooganala Perava has written to Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) and other film associations requesting that the comedy film’s name should be changed to something else, as it is not about the actor.
Nadigarthilagam Sivaji Samooganala Perava’s president K Chandrasekaran told indianexpress.com that the request is substantial as the world knows Sivaji Ganesan as Nadikar Thilakam. The actor got this name after a fan addressed him as this in the Bommai Magazine and ever since, that is how the actor was addressed.
Reasoning his request, K Chandrasekaran said, “If you produce a movie in the name of Nadigar Thilagam, it is obvious that it a biography film on Sivaji Ganeshan. That is why we objected to that name.”
He reveals that he has written to multiple organisations in Kerala but has been directed by South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce to get it registered in Chennai as well. He says, “I directly gave it to South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce. They told that it didn’t get registration here in Chennai. They said that there should be registration for objection in Chennai also. Mr Ravi Kottarakkara is the chairman of SIFCC. At that time, he was in Mumbai, he said that he will come back and look into the matter.”
K Chandrasekaran further added, “I sent to all, Kerala film producer’s Association, Malayalam Film Producer’s Association, Malayalam TV and Film Producer’s Association, Malayalam, AMMA. So many associations I sent…I strongly object to it. It should be the biography or filmography of the actor (to have this title.)”
K Chandrasekaran started Nadigarthilagam Sivaji Samooganala Perava in 2005 to felicitate the name of fame of Sivaji Ganesan after the actor’s demise.
In the film Nadikar Thilakam, Tovino portrays the role of superstar David Padikkal, who is dealing with a multitude of personal and professional crises in his film career. The movie is estimated to have been made on a budget of Rs 40 Crores and will have a 120-day shoot in various locations.
