Sundar C and Vadivelu reunite after 14 years for Gangers; Khushbu Sundar to back the project
Gangers also marks the first time Vadivelu is working under Sundar C’s direction since Rendu (2006).

There is no doubt that actor Vadivelu has made an indelible mark in Tamil pop culture, and he will go down in history as one of the most well-documented talents in Indian cinema. His impact grew multifold with the growth of social media, and Vadivelu has since become a household name despite his long absence from the big screen in the past decade till he made a resounding comeback with Mari Selvaraj’s Maamannan.
Director Sundar C’s collaboration with Vadivelu would easily feature in the lists of top comedy performances by the actor, and it is even more special because they haven’t worked together since 2009, which effectively means it is the nostalgia of their films that continue to reflect in their popularity even now. In an attempt to rekindle the same, Sundar C, fresh off the blockbuster success of Aranmanai 4, revealed the title of his next, which reunites him with Vadivelu 15 years after Nagaram Marupakkam (2010). Titled Gangers, the film also marks the first time Vadivelu is working under Sundar C’s direction since Rendu (2006).
Gangers also features the likes of Catherine Tresa, Bagavathi Perumal, Mime Gopi, Hareesh Peradi, and Munishkanth. With music by Sathya C, a regular in Sundar C’s films, the movie will be shot by E Krishnasamy, and backed by Khushbu and Sundar C under their Avni Cinemax banner.
Will Gangers’ Singaram join the likes of Kaipulla (Winner), Vedimuthu (London) and Veerabahu (Giri) is the big question, and we might just have the answer later this year.

Meanwhile, Sundar C has multiple films in the pipeline, including K Thirugnanam’s One 2 One, which also stars Anurag Kashyap. On the other hand, Vadivelu is working in Sudeesh Shankar’s Maareesan, which reunites him with his Maamannan co-star Fahadh Faasil.
