Superstar Rajinikanth recently confirmed the news that he will, in fact, be joining hands with his friend Kamal Haasan for a film next, after completing Jailer 2. This news came one week after Kamal Haasan confirmed their onscreen collaboration at the NEXA SIIMA Awards ceremony, after a gap of 46 years. The actor had said, “We were united long ago, but chose to remain apart because they kept splitting a biscuit and giving us only half each. We wanted a full biscuit each, and we got it and relished it well. Now we are content with just half a biscuit again, so we have come together.”
Rajinikanth, when asked about his next projects after Jailer 2 and an update on the much-anticipated reunion, confirmed on the news, “The next project is going to be a joint production between Raajkamal films and Red Giant Movies. The director and script for the film have not yet been fixed. We are looking forward to a story to work together again now.”

The project was earlier rumored to be directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, following his collaboration with Rajinikanth on the recently released Coolie. Rajinikanth also added, “We both are really excited at the prospect of working together again. Now we just need the right story and characters to officially start the project.” Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan made their entry into the film industry back in the 70’s under the tutelage of legendary filmmaker K Balachandar. Both of them have had parallel careers of sorts in Tamil cinema over the last few decades, always remaining at the top of the star system with back-to-back hits to their name. They have acted alongside each other in many movies, out of which Alavuddinum Athbutha Vilakkum (1979) was their very last outing together on screen.
