For millennials in Tamil Nadu, one of their favourite on-screen pairs-other than Vijay-Simran and Asin-Suriya-is perhaps Meera Jasmine and Madhavan from Run (2002), which was also the former's first film in Tamil. Even Mani Ratnam seemed to have liked the pairing that he brought them together for the film Aayutha Ezhuthu (Yuva in Hindi). While Madhavan continued to stay in the business, Meera was missing from the Tamil screen for the past nine years. Now, she is back in Tamil cinema and is joining hands with Madhavan for the film Test, which is the directorial debut of producer Sashikanth. Meera returned to Malayalam cinema last year with the film Makal, which had Jayaram in the lead role. The movie failed to make an impact at the box office. Sharing the news about her re-entry to Tamil, Meera Jasmine wrote on Instagram, "There is something so fulfilling about returning to familiar spaces and people that remain unchanged amidst all the transformations. So honored to be joining hands with @actormaddy @worldofsiddharth #Nayanthara for @sash041075 @studiosynot for TEST." The movie marks the debut of singer Shakthisree Gopalan as a music composer. Though it is evident from the motion poster and title that Test is about the game of cricket, the plot and other details of the film are still unknown. The shooting of the movie is already in progress.
