Prashanth Neel is the filmmaker with the grey-shaded Midas touch, and is riding high on the back-to-back successes of his KGF films and Salaar. He is currently attached to work in Salaar 2 and NTR 31. After making films in Kannada and Telugu, he was next expected to make a direct film in Tamil too. According to a recent report by DT Next, speculations are rife that this project might happen soon, and it will star Ajith Kumar in the lead.

The report states that the Ajith-Prashanth project will be a two-parter with the second film setting the stage for the much-awaited KGF 3. In fact, it could be the first time Yash and Ajith share screen space together. Said to be backed by Prashanth’s frequent collaborator Hombale Films, this project will mark their biggest film in Tamil. They are already entering Tamil cinema with National Award winner Keerthy Suresh’s Raghu Thatha, directed by Suman Kumar.

Ajith, who is currently working in Magizh Thirumeni’s Vidaamuyarchi, and is simultaneously shooting for Adhik Ravichandran’s Good Bad Ugly, is said to have earmarked 2-3 years for this project, which will hit the screens in 2026.

While this report has sent netizens in a frenzy, it is to be noted that such a speculation about a Prashanth Neel-Ajith film has been doing the rounds for quite some time now. However, there have been no official updates or responses from any of the stakeholders. When indianexpress.com reached out to a source close to the production house, we were told that it was an old speculation that has resurfaced, and there is nothing concrete happening on this front.

Nevertheless, social media is abuzz with this speculation, and netizens have already factored in the various permutations and combinations required to make this film a reality that will hit screens in 2026.
