Karthik Subbaraj’s Jigarthanda Double X gets release date

Karthik Subbaraj’s Mahaan, despite being a commendable action-drama, failed to make a mark as it couldn’t have a theatrical release. After Rajinikanth’s Petta, which was released in 2019, the director didn’t have a blockbuster film. So, like many other filmmakers across the world, Karthik has resorted to making a second part to one of the biggest blockbusters in his career, Jigarthanda.

Titled Jigarthanda Double X, the action drama, starring Raghava Lawrence and S J Suryah, is touted to be the prequel to his sophomore film, which earned him a great reputation in the film industry. The movie was released with a teaser that looked like a Western with Raghava Lawrence sporting a cowboy look. Now, it is confirmed that Jigarthanda Double X will be out for Diwali 2023. The film will be released in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi.

Talking about the movie, director Karthik Subbaraj said, “I am happy that we have been able to lock Diwali 2023 as the release date for Jigarthanda DoubleX. It’s an ambitious project given the love that the predecessor, Jigarthada, received. I am confident that this film will be a worthy successor to its prequel.”
