Shabana Azmi recently discovered a road named after her in her hometown Azamgarh. The actor, who felt really honoured expressed her feelings on Twitter, “At intersection of Kaifi Azmi road to Mijwan is Shabana Azmi road. What an honour.”
Azmi has been running the NGO Mijwan Welfare Society after the death of her father late Kaifi Azmi, who was its founder. Mijwan was his home town in Azamgarh where he set up a girls inter-college, a computer centre, sewing and embroidery centre and various other programs for girls.
