Focus to kick off this month with a new director
The Rajkummar Rao starrer will be helmed by Heeraz Marfatia

Although Bejoy Nambiar’s production venture, Focus, was earlier slated to begin on June 2, the film ran into trouble after its director, Akarsh Khurana opted out due to creative differences. But things seem to have fallen into place and the film is scheduled to go on the floors in the last week of June. Focus will be helmed by short film maker Heeraz Marfatia, who had earlier assissted Shekhar Kapur. Marfatia has also directed the acclaimed short film, Birju, which went on to get nominated in the student film category at the Oscars. Confirming the news, Nambiar said, “Yes, Heeraz will be directing the film. We will start shooting by June end and the first schedule will kick off in Mumbai. It’s going to be a ten day schedule, post which we will travel to Kerala for an extensive shoot.” As reported earlier, Focus is a journey film with multiple twists.
