The film, Entertainment, celebrates the ups and downs of the relationship of a human and dog. So it’s natural that the composers will be expected to create a mix of off-beat, crazy numbers that matches the plot. And that is exactly what music director duo Sachin-Jigar present in this six track album, which includes one remix. First on the list is the energetic Veerey di wedding, which is obviously, a wedding dance number where singer Mika sings with great enthusiasm. The Hindi meets Punjabi lyrics are decent, but the song is not the sorts that will make you want to dance. There is a remix version of the song at the end of the album, which is fast paced and better than the original. The soft romantic track, Tera naam doon, follows next. The calm, contemporary beats blend well with the flute tunes that open the track. Singer Atif Aslam, a favourite in all of Tips production ventures, has crooned the number like a breeze and female vocals by Shalmali Kholgade adds more charm. The lyrics are simple and hummable, making Tera naam doon the best track of this album.
Johnny johnny is a quirky take on the popular nursery rhyme that all of us have repeated a hundred times in school, but here, Johnny is heard talking about alcohol instead of sugar. Sung by Jigar Saraiya, Priya Panchal and Madhavi Krishna, the female vocals have been tweaked in an interesting way, since it has been picturised on Akshay Kumar. The use of electronic and techno beats is funky and sounds straight out of a Yo Yo Honey Singh number. Teri mahima aprampaar is a funked up desi number sung by Anushka Manchanda and Udit Narayan, where a few verses from another nursery rhyme, Twinkle twinkle little star, have been mixed. It’s a track filled with confusing tunes and inane lyrics, so we suggest you skip this one. Aslam’s melodious voice makes a comeback with Nahin woh saamne, a short reprise version of Tera naam doon. The singer, who nails it perfectly whenever he is given a soft number to croon, does perfect justice to the one minute plus piece. Overall, Sachin-Jigar’s compositions in the album are a mixed bag.
