The romance between Sonam Kapoor and Ayushmann Khurrana, in Befakoofiyaan, has been captured in an innovative way by Nupur Asthana, the film’s director. A major portion of the film was shot in Gurgaon’s DLF area, which is a bouquet of several corporate offices, most of which are constructed with glass and chrome.

“This kind of architecture is not seen in Delhi or anywhere else in India. Since both Sonam and Ayushmann are corporates, (he is playing a marketing executive and she, a banker) I set their romance against this glossy backdrop. Also the film is shot in a lot of of cool colours like greens, blues, whites,” said Asthana.
The film, she said, was shot on the Alexa Digital Cinema camera which is shoulder-mounted. “This camera allows more fluidity in shooting, unlike a handy-cam which is used if one wants to capture more of facial expressions,” said the director.
Bewakoofiyaan is a contemporary slice-of-life story and has been written by writer-director Habib Faisal. The film is produced by Aditya Chopra and is Asthana’s second film for the studio, after her directorial debut Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge. Also starring Rishi Kapoor, it releases worldwide on March 14, 2014.
