Gashmeer Mahajani on ‘strained relations’ with late father Ravindra Mahajani, finding out about his death after 2 days: ‘Certain dark secrets of a family…’
Marathi actor Ravindra Mahajani died in July. Now, his son, television actor Gashmeer Mahajani has opened up about his strained relationship with his father.

Marathi film actor Ravindra Mahajani passed away in July and now, his son television actor Gashmeer Mahajani has opened up about his relationship with his father and what led to the “strained relations” between them. The senior actor was found dead in his flat in Pune where he lived alone. As per reports, he passed away two days before his body was found.
Gashmeer said that soon after his father’s death, people were passing judgement on him and his family calling him an “irresponsible son” and questioned him why he did not even know about his father’s death until two days later. In a chat with The Times of India, Gashmeer said that it wasn’t easy for others to understand both sides of the story and have a “sensible approach.”
He said that his father wasn’t perfect and clarified that they hadn’t “dumped him in a tiny apartment” but he had “chosen to stay separately on his own for the last 20 years” as he “wanted to live freely on his own.” He shared that his father visited them and would stay with them when he wanted to. Describing him as a “moody person”, Gashmeer said that his father liked to be self-sufficient and the caretakers they sent to live with him were usually dismissed by his late father in a day or two.
He added that his father had started limiting contact with his family and friends for the last three years. He explained this as the “primary reason” as to why they learnt about his death late. He mentioned that he wasn’t very pally with his neighbours as well and did not have much of a social life. He added that he realises that whatever he says now might be interpreted in multiple ways but he has made his peace with it.
Gashmeer said that there were “multiple reasons that led to strained relations” between them and added that there were “many deeply personal aspects involved in this, but certain dark secrets of a family are not to be put on public display.”
Ravindra Mahajani was seen in Marathi films like Zhunj, Aram Haram Aahe, Lakshmi and Devata. He was last seen in Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat.
