Singing legend Paul McCartney was shaken to the core after his rock band ‘Beatles’ broke up in 1970, a new book ‘Man on the Run: Paul McCartney in the 1970s’ has revealed.

The 71-year-old star mentioned in the book that he almost had a nervous breakdown and his wife found the frightening, reported New York Daily.

“He knew he was in trouble the morning he couldn’t lift his head off the pillow. He awoke face down, his skull feeling like a useless dead weight.

“A dark thought flashed through his mind; if he couldn’t make the effort to pull himself up, he’d suffocate right there and then,” wrote music journalist Tom Doyle, author of the book.

The book also mentions about the volatile relationship McCartney had with his band member John Lenon.
