With the ultimate Dunki-Salaar face-off just two months away, film viewers across the country are avidly tracking every single update about these movies to gauge which will come out on top. Both Rajkumar Hirani’s Shah Rukh Khan-starrer Dunki and Prashanth Neel’s Prabhas-starrer Salaar Part 1 – Ceasefire will hit the theatres on December 22, 2023.
Much like fans, Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran, who plays a significant role in Salaar, is also eagerly anticipating the clash of the titans. “The fact that we are releasing with Hirani sir and Shah Rukh sir’s film, leave everything else, as a film lover I love it! I am excited that during the holiday season, you have two giant films, by two giant filmmakers, starring two big stars, and diametrically opposite in every possible parameter like the story and narrative,” he said during a recent chat with Hindustan Times.
“I am going to be watching both, I can promise you that. I am so looking forward to it. When did this last happen, that over a holiday season, we had two such big films? What better year than 2023 to celebrate Indian cinema like this,” he added.
On the occasion of Malayalam actor Prithviraj Sukumaran’s birthday on Monday, production company Hombale Films had unveiled his first look from Salaar. Prithviraj plays the role of Vardharaja Mannar who, according to reports, has several shades of grey. The teaser of the film, released by the makers in July, carried a tone similar to that of Neel’s previous franchise KGF.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj, who is back in business after taking a three-month break following an accident on the sets of his upcoming film Vilayath Buddha, is currently working simultaneously on his third directorial endeavour L2E – Empuraan. A sequel to his debut project as a helmer, Lucifer (2019), Empuraan stars Mohanlal in the lead role and also features Manju Warrier, Tovino Thomas, and Indrajith Sukumaran among others. The film officially went on floors on October 5.
Prithviraj Sukumaran was last seen in Shaji Kailas’ action crime thriller film Kaapa (2022), which received mixed responses.
