Malayalam actor Prithviraj shared the first poster of his forthcoming film Vimaanam on social media. The poster features Prithviraj in a garage admiring a part of an aircraft lying on his hand. In the film, he plays the role of a man who quit studies to build his own aircraft that he can fly.

“To fly was his dream…to love was his destiny!” Vimaanam 1st look!” Prithviraj captioned the poster on his Facebook page.

Vimaanam is based on the incredible life of Saji Thomas, a speech and hearing impaired man, who shot to fame by building a lightweight aircraft without the backing of the government or the private sector. Saji built the two-seater ultra-light aircraft called Saji X Air-S with the parts of vehicles and recycled materials at a cost of Rs 14 lakh.

Building an aircraft was Saji’s childhood dream and what makes it more inspiring is that fact that he protected his dream and gave life to it despite constant discouragement from family and friends. He managed to raise the required funds by selling off his land and personal belongings. And in April 2014, he finally and successfully flew his own aircraft at a private flying yard in Ambasamudram in Tamil Nadu, which is owned by SKJ Nair, a retired fighter pilot.

According to reports, Prithviraj will be taking basic flying classes from SKJ Nair in the latter’s flying yard. SKJ Nair will also provide his expertise in making the film based on an aircraft.

Earlier, the film had made headlines for the wrong reasons over the allegations that the story of Vimanam is similar to that of another upcoming film Abi, directed by Pradeep Nair with Vineeth Srinivasan in the lead role. However, the makers of the Prithviraj-starrer have denied allegations and have said that they will go ahead with the shooting as scheduled. The film will go on the floors on January 20.
