71st National Film Awards South winners list: Actors Urvashi, Vijayaraghavan and MS Bhaskar win big; Hanu-Man bags trophy for best action choreography
National Film Awards 2025 South winners list: While Vijayaraghavan and MS Bhaskar bagged the award for best supporting actor, Urvashi was named best supporting actress.

71st National Film Awards South winners list: In a first in his film career spanning 33 years, Bollywood’s Baadshah Shah Rukh Khan has bagged the National Film Award for Best Actor for his performance in director Atlee Kumar’s Jawan. At the 71st National Film Awards, honouring movies released in 2023, he, along with 12th Fail’s Vikrant Massey, was named best actor, while Rani Mukerji bagged the award for Best Actress for her performance in Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Director Vidhu Vinod Chopra’s 12th Fail also won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film, while Karan Johar’s Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani was named the Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.
Interestingly, the southern film industries also won big this time, clinching trophies in several major categories. While awards for both the Best Actor and Actress in a Supporting Role were divided among two thespians each, the Malayalam industry marked its presence felt in both categories. While Malayalam’s Vijayaraghavan and Tamil’s MS Bhaskar bagged the awards for best supporting actor for their performances in Pookkaalam and Parking, respectively, the Malayalam film Ullozhukku’s Urvashi and the Gujarati movie Vash’s Janki Bodiwala were named best supporting actresses.

Best Action Choreography: Hanu-Man
Best Music Direction (Songs): Vaathi
Best Lyricist: Kasarla Shyam (“Ooru Palletooru” – Balagam)
Best Male Playback Singer: PVNS Rohit (“Premisthunna” – Baby)
Best Editing: Midhun Murali (Pookkaalam)
Best Malayalam Film – Ullozhukku
Best Kannada Film – Kandeelu
Best Tamil Film – Parking
Best Telugu Film- Bhagavanth Kesari
