Marvel Studios has just dropped the final trailer for their upcoming film Thunderbolts, starring Florence Pugh, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Wyatt Russell, Lewis Pullman, Olga Kurylenko and Geraldine Vishwanathan. The trailer shows the band of misfits taking on the mysterious villain called The Void, played by Pullman. The character of Yelena, played by Pugh, seems to be at the centre of the narrative, as she tries to save a ‘post-Avengers’ world with the help of others such as the Red Guardian, John Walker, Taskmaster and the Ghost.

In the promo, Yelena can be seen trying to cope with her past, including the death of her sister Natasha Romanoff (played by Scarlett Johansson), as her adoptive father Alexei (David Harbour’s Red Guardian) tries to convince her to let things go. Russell’s John Walker can also be seen reminiscing about old memories as he glances over an article from the time he was named the new Captain America.

Geraldine Vishwanathan’s character Mel remembers being in high school when the Avengers came around and says, “It’s all changed now; no one is coming to save the day,” to which Sebastin Stan’s character, Bucky, replies, “I think we are; we can be the ones that are coming.” The group attempts to fill a large vacuum left after the events of Endgame while battling with personal turmoil and past trauma as Queen’s ‘Under Pressure’ plays in the background and sets the tone for the film.

Marvel will be going into this release slightly out of form after Captain America: A Brave New World imploded at the box office. The studio needs to register a win and gain some momentum as they get closer to their biggest film since Endgame, Avengers: Doomsday.

Directed by Jack Scherier, Thunderbolts is going to release on May 2, and Marvel will be hoping to secure a good opening week and turn around all the bad luck they have been facing at the box office in recent times.
