Following the rapid spread of these rumours, the Dune actor removed the post and replaced it with a selfie video, playfully debunking the engagement rumours and humorously scolding her fans for turning every post into an unintended viral sensation. She quipped, “I can’t post anything, you guys. I posted it for my hat. Like, not for the ring on my right finger, you guys. Seriously, you think that’s how I would drop the news? You think? Like, what,” all while laughing.

She later shared the entire picture that had caused the buzz on her Instagram story, noting, “Let me just put the full body back so y’all can relax lmao.”

The duo’s romantic relationship was confirmed by the public in 2021 when images of them sharing a kiss in a car went viral. Nonetheless, they refrained from openly discussing it until a few months later. Even when they eventually acknowledged it, Spider-Man: No Way Home actors consistently prioritised maintaining a high degree of privacy, actively avoiding excessive limelight.

Soon after their relationship caught public attention, Holland said that the downside of being a popular actor was the lack of privacy. In a profile interview with GQ magazine, he said: “One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world.”

The actor said that the decision to speak about his relationship with Zendaya is not his alone. “I don’t think it’s about not being ready. It’s just that we didn’t want to. It’s not a conversation that I can have without her. You know, I respect her too much to say. This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together,” Holland added.

Holland also talked about the impact Zendaya has had on his life over the years. “Having her in my life was so instrumental to my sanity. She is so good at being a role model for young guys and girls. When anyone comes up, like, ‘Can I have a picture?,’ it’s never a bad time. Whereas my initial reaction was: ‘Why are you talking to me? Leave me alone’,” he said.
