Vadaa Raha

If you can deal with a morose Deol, who’s only slightly better than an ultra-bright Deol, and a chirpy chatterbox of a co-star,‘Vadaa Raha’ can be sat through.

Cast: Bobby Deol,Dwij Yadav,Kangana Ranaut

Director: Samir Karnik

Rating:**

This is what ‘Vadaa Raha’ sets us up for. Bobby Deol as a doctor who is paralysed neck down after an accident. Kangana Ranaut as his selfish girl-friend who ditches him. And Dwij Yadav,as the mortally ill young lad,who shows the despairing paraplegic the way out.

This is what we get. A hospital set which looks alarmingly clean. Bobby who starts off moaning and groaning ,graduating to getting back on his feet (this is a Hindi movie, okay?). Dwij, who’s been in ‘Nanhe Jaiselmer’,a previous Bobby-Samir venture, all cheerful and sunny. And Kangana, who must have been very desperate when she signed the film: she’s in it precisely for six or seven scenes, and a couple of songs.

If you can deal with a morose Deol, who’s only slightly better than an ultra-bright Deol, and a chirpy chatterbox of a co-star,‘Vadaa Raha’ can be sat through, especially by kittying aunties looking for a good old-fashioned weep. Do remember to take a hanky along.
